PROFILE OF UNIVERSITY STUDENT CHAMBER -GHANA

The idea of University Student Chamber emanated from Haga Tatsuya, the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of University Student Chamber International, and the Secretary General for Honorary consulate of the Solomon Islands in Tokyo, Japan. It was founded on May 22nd, 2014 with the sole aim of bridging the gap between students worldwide.

Mr Tatsuya Haga is as well the General Secretary of the Solomon Islands Tourist Office in Japan as well as the Association Director of Japan International Cooperation Promotion. These capacities he finds himself is what has led to the realisation of the University Student Chamber.

The philosophy that underpinned the formation of University Student Chamber was to contribute significantly to International Prosperity and cooperation whiles credence is given to the philosophical underpinnings of the United Nations.

University Student Chamber International has a top Adviosor who is in the person of Mr Mitoji Yabunaka. He is the Former Foreign Ministry Advisor and a Special Professor at Osaka University.He is also the Faculty of International Relations Professor at Ritsumeikan University and the Director of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and the Advisor of of Nomura Research Institute.

In August 2018, a delegation from Ghana was tasked to present a progress report on the Attainment of the sustainable Development Goals in Ghana. The delegation was led by Mr. Addo Benjamin Armah who is currently the President of University Student Ghana and Mr. Nathaniel Nyarko Debrah, the current Vice-President of UNISC-Ghana.

On 28th November, 2018, the certificate of Incorporation of UNISC-Ghana was brought

forward to incorporate UNISC-Ghana as a national Organization that will continue to champion the ideals of UNISC-International. The charter of University Student Chamber International made it possible for an extension to be realized in Ghana. This then makes UNISC-Ghana an external branch of University Student Chamber International.

Going forward UNISC-Ghana is tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that branches of University Student Chamber is realized in other African Countries such as Togo, Benin, Cote Divoire, Nigeria and many others.

University Student Chamber Ghana as a non-governmental Organization is characterized by the following scope of activities.

  1. To Formulate and implement programmes geared towards promoting world prosperity and peace.
  2. To Create awareness on the existence of the Sustainable Development Goals as proposed by the United Nations to students especially those in marginalised Educational Institutions.
  3. To Make known what the Ghanaian Government has done in pursuit of the attainment of the sustainable Development Goals.
  4. To take suggestions from students on how they think the Sustainable Development Goals can be achieved by 2030.
  5. To establish and strengthen cooperation between students in Ghana and those outside Ghana especially Japan.

The target of the University Student Chamber Ghana is to reach milions of people world

-wide especially those in the African parlance to ensure that the sustainable Development Goals is attained before the said date.

PLAN AND SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES OF UNISC-GHANA

  1. To Formulate and implement programmes geared towards promoting world prosperity and peace.

  • To Make known what the Ghanaian Government has done in pursuit of the attainment of the sustainable Development Goals.

  • To establish and strengthen cooperation between students in Ghana and those outside Ghana especially Japan.

Our biggest motivation is to have an Africa which is resilient and poised in the quest to

achieving all the parameters set forth in the Sustainable Development Goals. BENEFITS FOR MEMBERS OF UNISC-GHANA

Members of UNISC-Ghana by virtue of their membership stand the chance of ;

  1. Attending UNISC Conference and meetings in countries such as Japan, Ghana etc.
  • Presenting an opinion at the International event in both written and oral form 3.Having Free access to the United Nations.

All said and done UNISC-Ghana has been granted the opportunity to employ it’s Executive Structure using it’s own framework of operation.
